Integrating a Robot System into the electrical design of a material handling cell might be underestimated. A robot is not simply a black box in the design.

Understanding the robot arm and controller is key to designing a robust and safe interface between the process and the main cell controller.

End-of-arm tooling I/O might become very intricate when manipulating high-volume production parts inside tight CNC machinery. Choosing between End-Effector hardwired I/O or fieldbus distributed I/O devices will affect the system's flexibility and reliability. Proper cabling, hardware, and communication protocols will affect the dress package sizing, quick-change tooling design, and sensor and actuator selection.
